Storm water regulations are in effect that govern construction sites. It is required by law to take precautions in preventing soils and construction debris from leaving the construction site and getting into any drainage system or street. “Best Management Practices” are necessary to comply with your County Building Permit. Silt fences, hay bales, sediment ponds are a few of the “Best Management Practices” used in construction today to prevent soils from contaminating our ditches and streams, as well as the adjoining property owner. You are urged to perform site maintenance and clean up your construction site to prevent any debris or soils from leaving the site, especially in the event of rain. Should you have any questions concerning any environmental issue with your construction, please contact the County Environmental Department at (251) 574-3229).
